Dr. Kearns Elected President of North American Chapter of the International Society for Gerontechnology
William Kearns, PhD, has been elected the new President of the North American Chapter of the International Society for Gerontechnology and appointed to the Board of Directors for this scholarly body. The ISG holds Standing Committee status in the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) and through IAGG is represented within the 3289 Non-Governmental Organizations with consultative status in the United Nations ECOSOC (ECOnomic and SOcial Council).
Also of note, Dr. Kearns' presentation with James L. Fozard, PhD (School of Aging Studies), Paul Webster, PhD (Ubisense, Inc.) and Jan Jasiewicz, PhD (US Dept. of Veterans Affairs) entitled "Location Aware Smart Watch Supporting Aging in Place" was one of the three papers awarded best paper out of 60 submissions at the International Society for Gerontechnology annual meeting (ISG2014) in Taipei, Taiwan last week.
