Paper on Maternal Health as a Mediator in Child Injury Presented at the 2014 American Psychological Association Conference

Christina J. Nicolais, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Dr. Marilyn Stern, College of Behavioral and Community Sciences presented a poster on a statistical model using maternal physical health and child externalizing behaviors as predictors of child injury, and home hazards and supervision as mediators of these relations.  Results showed significant relationships between parent physical health and child injury, and child aggression and child injury.  Further examination of the mechanisms of action in the parent health-child injury relationship may lead to the development of effective injury prevention interventions.
