Dr. Tammy Jorgensen-Smith presents Innovative VR Tools at the 2013 annual National Rehabilitation Association Conference
The first poster examined the Collaboration on Discovery and Innovation in Employment (CODIE). The purpose of CODIE is to build the capacity of school district implementation teams to facilitate Discovery - a qualitative, person-centered process for gathering information about a student’s interests, strengths, and support needs and translating this information to identify potential employment outcomes.
The second poster examined an initiative to build the capacity of Vocational Rehabilitation to effectively serve individuals with significant disabilities by adding Discovery, a component of the customized employment process, as an alternative to traditional vocational evaluation. Florida VR partnered with national experts from Marc Gold & Associates and the University of South Florida to pilot a Discovery certificate course designed to prepare VR vendors to provide Discovery as a billable service for VR customers.
