Dr. Marilyn Stern Awarded Lady Davis Fellowship
Dr. Marilyn Stern, of the Department of Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling was awarded a Lady Davis Fellowship. Dr. Stern will be a Visiting Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel from March to July 2014.
This is not Dr. Stern’s first appointment as a Visiting Research Professor in Israel. She was the recipient of two Fulbright scholarships. In 2006, at the University of Haifa, Department of Psychology (Haifa, Israel), Dr. Stern studied the psychosocial impact of cancer on adolescents and their ability to adapt to their illness and treatment. In 1994, at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, (Beer Sheva, Israel), Department of Behavioral Sciences, she conducted a cross-cultural comparison of the role that parents’ and other caregivers’ expectations about premature babies’ health plays in the child’s development.
The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust was established 41 years ago in 1973 to provide an opportunity for Visiting Professors, Post-Doctoral Researchers and Doctoral Students from abroad, regardless of nationality, gender or field of scholarship to teach, study and participate in research in Israel at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and at the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa.
